These are small friendly classes suitable for all ability levels with plenty of opportunity for personal attention as the class is limited to a maximum of

5 students as it is held in the artist’s private studio. Jane is an experienced artist who has sold work internationally.

 

There is a relaxed atmosphere and you can work at your own pace listening to classical music whilst you paint. This is a

great opportunity to tune into your creativity!

 

With encouragement from Jane you will learn various techniques that will help you develop your own style.

Course days & times

Subjects covered:

 

Tuesday mornings

10am – 12.30pm

 

1st  module:  8th Sept - 2nd Nov

2nd module: 9th Nov – 7th Dec

 

(*no class at half term on 26th Oct)

   

drawing techniques & watercolour painting

 

The classes will focus on developing the students drawing skills with short exercises at the beginning of the class.

 

A variety of subjects are covered in the second half of the session where we explore various watercolour techniques such as wet on wet, washes etc when working from still life studies, photographs or other sources to stimulate your imagination.

This will be an opportunity to “Learn the “tricks of the trade!”

 

The use of other media such as oil pastel, charcoal & pen to develop the range of your work is encouraged.

*individual tuition at The Studio is available at @ £25 per hour. (minimum of 2 hrs a lesson)

 

Students attending these classes will have the opportunity to show their best work

 in a public Art exhibition at The Wyllotts Theatre in Potters Bar next Summer 2011

The richness of including patterns…how to add interest & variety to a composition

 

Using the printed word in artworkpoems, song lyrics or a favourite quote to inspire a very personal picture

 

How to observe accurately & make representational sketcheslearn the tricks of  really looking at a subject

 

 

How to paint flowers & petalsusing the delicate medium of watercolour to capture their translucent beauty

 

The importance of negative spaces in a compositionshapes that are real & not just “air” around the subject

 

Focusing on the power of the unconscious mind in creating worktune in & watch what happens!

basic materials needed :  A3 lightweight drawing board, several sheets of inexpensive drawing paper, roll of masking tape, 4b pencil, soft polymer rubber,  several sheets of watercolour paper or watercolour pad, watercolour paints & brush, plastic paint mixing tray with compartments
