The Artist & Tutor - Jane Kerr Wood

"Nobody ever made a living out of art"... This was the opinion
of Jane's father
when her Art teacher at school was trying to persuade her to study for a degree in
Fine Art at university...well, he had trained as an Accountant, so we
have to try and understand! Although Jane had been paid well for her
first commission - an oil painting at the age of 17- Her brushes were duly put away &
her "A"
level in Art gathered dust in a drawer for years whilst she pursued a
different career path following a Combined Honours Degree in Medieval &
Prehistoric Archaeology & English Literature.
We all know "creative types" can be a
problem if they have no outlet for their talents...it was inevitable that
she was a fish in the wrong pool...Training as an Interior Designer
a few years ago was the catalyst that she needed . Producing perspective drawings of room layouts and
hand-tinting them with watercolour was so enjoyable. The paint brushes
were finally out!
With several
successful exhibitions in recent years & sales of prints internationally
Jane has been approached many times about giving tuition; so now there
are options to join in with short courses & Summer School modules run
from her Studio as well as individual lessons on a 1-2-1 basis.
Jane also teaches Watercolour at Oaklands College in St Albans. |
