"Nobody ever made a living out of art": This was my father's opinion
when my art teacher was trying to persuade me to study for a degree in
Fine Art at university...well, he had trained as an Accountant so we
have to try and understand! My paint brushes were duly put away & my "A"
level in Art gathered dust in a drawer for years whilst I pursued a
career in local government. (You can see I was determined not to make
any money!) As we all know "creative types" can be a
problem if they have no outlet for their drives...it was inevitable that
I was a fish in the wrong pool...Training as an Interior Designer was a delight. Producing perspective drawings of room layouts and
hand-tinting them with watercolour was so enjoyable. The paint brushes
were finally out!
Kerr Wood Studios
was initially set up as an Interior Design Consultancy in North London. Working with colour schemes & helping clients source art
for their rooms is part of the service. One of the first things done on
any project is taking photographs. My camera goes everywhere with me as
you never know when something will inspire a picture. The advances in
digital imaging have created a revolution in the art market. Through my
dealings with artists & galleries I have developed a good appreciation
of what is on offer...
...so I try very
hard to make my images different in both quality &
subject matter; I just hope you like them...
